Kyle Sandilands reveals he “saved his son Otto’s life” after the newborn nearly choked on a baby rattle which has been urgently recalled
Kyle Sandilands has revealed how he saved the life of his newborn son Otto.
The 51-year-old radio host said he pulled a wooden baby rattle, which was recently recalled, out of his four-month-old son’s mouth.
Gigil’s wooden dumbbell rattle toy was urgently recalled last week after the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission found its size and shape did not meet safety standards for toys for children aged 0 to 3 years.

“So I read that there was a recall for a certain baby rattle that posed a choking hazard,” Kyle said in an Instagram video posted to the show’s Instagram page, The Kyle and Jackie O.
“I looked down at my kid and to my horror it was in his mouth so I grabbed it and saved his life.”
The recall notice for the toy last week read: “The rattle may pose a choking or choking hazard to small children, which could result in serious injury or death.”

The ACCC said consumers should stop using the rattle immediately, have it destroyed, and arrange for a refund from Gigil.
“Consumers should provide a photo to show the product has been destroyed. If the product has already been disposed of, consumers should notify Gigil so that the safe disposal of the products can be monitored,” the ACCC said.
The toy was available online between February 10 and December 1 of this year.
“I was looking down at my kid and to my horror it was in his mouth so I snatched it away and saved his life,” Kyle said
Meanwhile, on August 11, Kyle welcomed his son Otto to his fiancée, Tegan.
Kyle’s co-host Jackie O announced the happy news on air and Kyle’s manager Bruno Bouchet told Chron Australia: “Little Otto was born this morning. Mum and boy are both fine.’
“Kyle is beyond excited. Kyle will be back on the radio show tomorrow to chat about all things Otto,” he added.
Jackie, Otto’s godmother, shed tears of joy as she announced: “Otto is born!”
