Daniela Giordano, the first and only Palermo woman to be elected Miss Italy, died at the age of 75 after an illness. After winning the beauty contest, which took place in 1966, the doors of the cinema opened wide for her. After her debut in 1967 in the film “The Barbers of Sicily” with Franco Franchi and Ciccio Ingrassia, Daniela Giordano starred in about forty films, most of them in the seventies, in different genres: western, historical and Italian comedy.
On the Miss Italia website, like all other queens, a page is dedicated with a brief description. “The Sicilian Daniela Giordano wins the title in Salsomaggiore. Daughter of a bank clerk, she studied languages and, after her election, began a career as an actress to continue pursuing the hobby of astronomy. She has taken part in numerous films such as Play Boy and the TV drama The Adventures of Baron von Trenck. He lives in Palermo. The actress married Emilio Latini, photographer of stars and film characters, more than 30 years ago.
Miss Italia also dedicated a post to the actress today on social media: “It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Miss Italia 1966 Daniela Giordano. After winning the sash in Salsomaggiore, she launched a successful film career in the 1970s. We want to commemorate her with great affection, smiles and joy together with this year’s Miss companions and also with our dear Enzo Mirigliani. The Patron and we all gather around the family.
