A few days before the last night in Rome, Miss Italy’s family mourns the loss of one of their historic beauty queens. Daniela Giordano, who was crowned Miss Italy in 1966, died in her Palermo after a short illness at the age of 74. The first and only Palermitan to win the famous beauty contest, the doors of cinema had opened thanks to the title conquered in Salsomaggiore: after her debut in 1967 with Franco Franchi and Ciccio Ingrassia in The Barbers of Sicily, Giordano had in fact acted in 50 films, the most from the 1970s, which varies between different genres, from westerns to period films to the Italian comedy Where I See Naked by Dino Risi with Nino Manfredi, stands out.
