‘The CEO gave a speech NAKED’: Workers unveil Christmas party HORROR stories – from drunken brawls between employees to puking employees

  • A Reddit thread asked workers to reveal their horror stories about the holiday celebrations
  • One person said their boss announced layoffs that caused an “s*** show.”
  • A Christmas party on a boat resulted in a near-death encounter in a worker
  • Police had to be called to a party after a forklift driver and VP started a fight

What’s worse when you combine co-workers, your bosses, booze and lots of festive cheer? Well, quite a lot judging by these Reddit users.

Workers have used the online forum to share their most terrifying memories of Christmas celebrations, some of which have ended in debauchery, some with incidents of near deaths and some with news of layoffs.

Reporting on a particularly embarrassing incident, @MisterShine wrote: “Christmas and for the first time staff were able to bring their wives/husbands/significant others.

“One of my close colleagues, slightly over-refreshed, nudged the woman he was standing next to, nodded to a male and female colleague who were both standing on the dance floor, and said, ‘He’s been shagging her all year.'” The woman he was talking to was the guy’s wife.”

The big revelation led to a “scene” in which the colleague “had his lights turned off,” and the company never again allowed workers to invite significant others.

@HorseMeatSandwich offers advice to chefs and warns against announcing layoffs at a Christmas party.

When that happened at his party, he said the event had become an “absolute s*** show” with workers “drinking away their bonuses.”

Describing the chaos that unfolded, he wrote: “The receptionist vomited onto her plate of filet mignon. Two colleagues had sex in the bathroom. The CEO’s wife ended up passed out drunk on a chair by the cloakroom and had to be carried out. It was wonderful.”

On a less “glorious” note, @natvonbrat recalls a Christmas party on a boat where a colleague nearly died after jumping into the water while drunk while her boyfriend jumped after her.

The Redditor revealed: “They had to stop the barge, call the police and end the trip for the rest of us. I have no idea what happened [our Christmas] sweater and I didn’t get dessert, but at least I have a good story to tell!’

In another Reddit thread asking people to remember their funniest office Christmas party stories, one Redditor tells @thewoodstonight about a time when she was a waitress and “after many hours of heavy drinking, the manager got up to… to give his speech and stripped completely”.

She continues: “Brutt 50 years old and totally naked. He then climbed onto a table, used my shoulder to steady himself as he got up, and rambled on for five minutes before walking into the parking lot. When I went to work the next day to prepare for lunch, I found him still naked asleep under the restaurant.’

Fights appear to be another common thread among office workers after drinking copious amounts of alcohol, and Redditor @Ashlands said a brawl got so out of control the police had to be called.

He wrote of the event: “I went to the office party my dad threw while I was working for him. My father owns the company and his best friend is the vice president [vice president].

“The VP and one of the [fork] Elevator drivers bumped into each other and they got into a fight (elevator driver punched, company VP also owns a gym and competes in MMA [mixed martial arts], so it was over pretty quickly). They were both arrested. Elevator driver was fired.’

To avoid messy stories, @PM_ME_A_PLANE_TICKET says it’s best to avoid work holiday parties altogether.

The Redditor mused, “The only options are ‘nothing bad happens’ or it’s going to be really bad. There’s no way it’ll do me any good.”
