Samsung is reportedly actively working on a laptop with a 17.3-inch folding screen

Samsung makes all kinds of Oled panels for many manufacturers around the world, and according to information from research firm Omdia, the South Korean company would be willing to use one of its screen technologies itself. It could invest in a whole new product segment next year: that of laptops with a foldable screen.

A 17.3 inch OLED screen

Samsung would indeed intend to produce a 17.3-inch diagonal foldable laptop in the near future. According to The Elec, of the 8.5 million Oled panels Samsung Display would bring to laptops in 2023, some would end up at Asus, but not only.

This time, most of the screens went to Samsung MX, the department responsible for manufacturing the brand’s Galaxy laptops, to design this brand new model.

Builders work behind the scenes

This new laptop format would offer the user the possibility of enjoying a 17.3-inch screen unfolded, but also two 13.3-inch screens when folded. One of the great advantages of this type of design is that it offers new uses, with a more hybrid and comfortable use, where the lower half of the screen can leave space for a keyboard, for example, if necessary.

Of course, such a device should come out at a rather high price. Apple would also be willing to produce its own foldable MacBook, but its commercialization isn’t expected for a while.
