An “intense low pressure area” will hit Quebec from Thursday evening through Saturday, which could make travel for the holidays significantly more difficult.
Environment Canada also issued a special provincial weather report on Monday evening to warn the population.
“Significant amounts of snow, strong winds and blowing snow are expected in regions north of the St. Weather Organization.
Freezing rain can occur in areas where snow turns to rain.
Snow gusts could also occur on Saturday afternoon in southern Quebec after the passage of the intense low-pressure system “due to the passage of cold air across the Great Lakes,” according to the special weather report.
This weather cocktail is likely to make Quebec’s roads difficult to travel when many will be heading to their loved ones for the holiday season.
Environment Canada emphasizes that it is too early to provide details on expected precipitation amounts due to “uncertainty as to the trajectory of the system”.
