Cuban journalist Daisy Ballmajó will retire after 8 years as the presenter of Telemundo 51’s outstanding news program.
Next Friday, Ballmajó will present his latest newscast from Telemundo 51, South Florida’s premier television show, and will return on vacation with a variety show in January, CiberCuba learned from internal sources at Telemundo 51.
The channel announced that the Cuban journalist and presenter Alejandra Molina will be his successor and new partner of Fausto Malavé as presenter of the Telemundo 51 news program, broadcast daily from 18:00 to 23:00.
Although Telemundo 51 assured that in this new role, Ballmajó fulfills his “dream of sharing something more than just the news of the day with the community,” CiberCuba was able to learn that this is linked to a policy of salary and staff cuts that the channel will launch in 2023 .
Ballmajó declined to comment to CiberCuba when contacted.
Telemundo 51, in the official announcement of this change in personnel, praised Ballmajó’s work over the years.
“Since arriving at Telemundo 51 in 2010, Daisy has been a consistent and valued presence for South Florida’s Hispanic audiences, presenting the most important news for our market,” the note reads.
For her part, Molina, who will now share Noticiero Telemundo 51 with Malavé, started at the station in 2015 as the anchor of the morning news and later became “the anchor of the 5:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. newscast”.
Molina’s place on the 5:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. newscasts will be occupied by Lisette Mari, who will accompany Gloria Ordaz at the helm, adds the information.
In February last year, the journalist, who lives in Miami with her partner, Cuban sportswriter Bobby Salamanca Jr., used her birthday to celebrate Thank life, your friends and family.
Months ago, Ballmajó worried his followers after sharing on his social networks the news that she had surgery to avoid a greater evil.
“Friends, thank you to everyone who has asked about me. I am recovering from a surgical procedure that is necessary for my health. In this way, it is not the first operation, although it is the one that takes the longest recovery time. But it’s going well,” he wrote on his Facebook profile.
Fortunately, the journalist’s recovery was quick and satisfactory, and in a short time she was able to rejoin the Telemundo television set.
