Bedard and Wright having fun against Switzerland

Connor Bedard and Shane Wright dominated the Switzerland squad in a 6-0 win in Canada’s first preseason game at the World Junior Hockey Championship on Monday in Moncton.

Canada took the lead by scoring three goals in the second period when their lead was already two goals.

The cohesion between Connor Bedard, who racked up three assists, and Shane Wright, who scored two goals, is already very present.

In the third period, who is perceived as the future first pick of the next National Hockey League draft picked up momentum by going into the net. Without warning, he spotted Wright, who just had to shove the puck into the net.

Quebecers Joshua Roy and Nathan Gaucher didn’t wait to play their two cents by scoring in the first period with two minutes remaining.

After a quick counterattack, Gaucher smashed into opponents’ territory, pivoted easily and delivered adeptly against his Quebec Major Junior Hockey League colleague. Roy completed this maneuver effortlessly.

Later in the half he retaliated with a fine pass to Gaucher that baffled the Swiss team’s defenders.

Goalie Thomas Milic, who plays with the Seattle Thunderbirds of the Western Hockey League, earned his shutout with 19 saves.

Canada’s special teams were also very effective on the power play, scoring two of Switzerland’s five chances.

The Maple Leaf will play their next preseason game on Wednesday against Filip Mesar and Slovakia.
