In the past year, James has lost 33 kg (72 lbs or 5.2 st) and has also come off the psychiatric medication that has altered his mood for so long.
Packer told The Weekend Australian in June he was ready to begin the “third act” of his life, including a planned return to his hometown of Sydney
“I am about 130kg now and aim to be back to 100kg by the end of 2022. I want to swim in Bondi with my kids when we’re all together in Sydney next year and weigh 100kg,” he said from home in Mexico.

Packer revealed he had stopped taking the antidepressants and antipsychotics he was taking and was now trying to “rehabilitate” his reputation in Australia.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing Crown Sydney…it hasn’t been appropriate for me to be in Australia in recent years,” he said.
In a subsequent interview with The Sydney Morning Herald, Packer said he had lost a total of 33kg by quitting alcohol, following a strict diet and exercise regimen and limiting his daily calorie intake.

He told the newspaper his life is “pretty good at the moment”, adding: “My mental health is the best it’s ever been.”
Packer sold Crown to private investment firm Blackstone for $8.9 billion in a deal completed in June, raking in $3.3 billion in the process.
The sale marked the end of a major chapter in his life, which was at times marked by controversy surrounding investigations into the company and allegations of money laundering.
Despite the investigation, the father-of-three credited his casinos in Melbourne, Perth and Sydney with changing cities “for the better”.
