HAVANA, 20th December (ACN) – Mexico will soon start using Cuba’s anti-COVID-19 vaccine Abdala among its population over the age of 12, following its assessment by the Federal Commission for Health Risk Protection (Copefris).

Mexico City’s Digital Government Director Eduardo Clark assured that both his country’s regulator and the New Molecules Committee have verified the effectiveness of 92 percent (%) of the immunogen in preventing severe cases of COVID-19.

Abdala, the first vaccine against the disease developed in Latin America, will be used in Mexico as a booster and for latecomers in the vaccination process, the manager said in an interview published in local Proceso magazine.

Clark promised to share documents from the Cuban Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology that show the drug’s effectiveness, noting that it matches very well with those used in the city.

According to the text, Mexico’s Health Ministry reported that it received the first shipment of the Abdala vaccine at the end of November, containing four million 092,500 doses for use in people aged 12 and over.
