On Friday, April 22, 2022, at 11:07 pm, a magnitude 5.7 earthquake occurred about 40 km southeast of Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Countless people were injured.

A stone has fallen on a house in the town of Stolac. A resident (28) succumbed to his injuries at the hospital a little later. Local authorities also reported material damage such as cracks and collapsed walls in Stolac, Ljubinje and Mostar.

The quake, which lasted about 20 seconds, was also felt in part in Austria, especially as slowly rocking on the higher floors, the earthquake service of the Central Institute of Meteorology and Geodynamics ZAMG also has a report of a skyscraper in Linz. .

Earthquake also in Styria

On Friday afternoon at 3:32 pm, the earth also shook north of Leoben in Styria. However, the magnitude only reached a force of 2.6. The epicenter was west of St. Katharein in the Tragößtal and at times it was clearly felt by some people. No damage to buildings is known and, according to ZAMG experts, is not expected due to this force.
