It’s widely acknowledged that Tiger Woods’ best days are behind him, but his son should do more than most he can do, even as 2023 approaches.

But even Charlie Woods was surprised by his famous father’s performance at the weekend’s PNC Championships in Orlando, FL.

The nostalgic pairing finished the two-day event on -20 points after 59 and 65 and finished eighth in their third appearance together at The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club.

“I feel like I already knew what he was capable of and yesterday that was the best he’s played in a long time. And that kind of shocked me,” Charlie joked.

In response, Tiger made a self-deprecating remark familiar to many fathers.

“I used to be good,” he remarked.

Their first round served as a reminder of what else Woods Sr. can do with a racquet in hand after a 59 earned a share of second place with Team Singh, the eventual winner.

Sunday wasn’t as successful as the Woods family finished eighth after a round of 65.

At least Charlie and Tiger have fun on the course together, albeit at each other’s expense.

“We always shoot at each other,” Charlie said. “And it’s just a lot of fun.”

“It’s literally non-stop. It starts before the round. Even before we got here, the news was flying,” Tiger said of the back-and-forth.

“And then warm up, the jabs came out. And then there were jabs throughout the round, left a few notes here and there, said a few things we love.

Woods also gives fans what they love simply for being on the pitch. It may be early, but it seems that his son will carry on this tradition.
