US lawmakers on Tuesday voted to declassify the tax returns of former Republican President Donald Trump, who fought a years-long legal battle to keep them private.

A House committee, meeting specifically on tax matters and with a Democratic majority pending the inauguration of the new Republican majority in early January, voted 24 in favor and 16 against to release the six-year billionaire tax sheets in 2015 and 2020.
