When Jenna Bush Hager welcomed daughter Mila to the Today show on Tuesday, little did she realize her national television appearance was going to be a roast.
The nine-year-old was watching the fourth hour of the morning show in Studio 1A when Hoda Kotb invited her to chat with them on stage, despite Bush Hager’s initial protests.
Within minutes, Mila was handing out “truth bombs” about how her mom cries at the end of movies, never wears underwear, and once peed her pants laughing.
Jenna Bush Hager was co-hosting the fourth hour of the Today show when Hoda Kotb invited her nine-year-old daughter Mila on stage
After chatting about her vacation and her new kitten, Mila revealed that her mom once peed her pants in her living room because she laughed too hard
Kotb started the conversation by asking the fourth graders if they enjoyed spending the start of their vacation at work with their mother.
With encouragement from Bush Hager, she shared how earlier in the day they met the kitten they are about to adopt.
Sharing that the kitten is brown and will be called Holly, Mila said she has dreamed of having one since she was two years old.
However, the chat took a turn when Kotb asked Mila if she was “just like that.” [her] Mummy.’ The little girl shook her head to say no.
‘How are you different, little girl?’ Bush Hager asked her daughter.
Bush Hager was obviously embarrassed, but Kotb couldn’t help but laugh at the revelation. Mila then started talking about how her mother always cries at the end of movies
Unsure of what would come out of her daughter’s mouth next, the presenter hugged her and gently urged her to step off the stage
“Because I’m better,” the fourth-grader replied confidently.
“Milla! Old!’ said Bush Hager while her co-host laughed next to her.
Kotb tried to steer the conversation back to the things she loves about Bush Hager, unknowingly giving Mila another opportunity to poke fun at her mother.
“Do you know when I love her the most, Mila? When she laughs so hard, she can’t catch her breath,” Kotb said.
“Yes, one time she laughed in our living room and peed her pants,” Mila announced, much to her mother’s embarrassment. ‘You changed your pajamas!’
“Thanks, Mila,” Bush Hager said sarcastically. ‘Thank you very much.’
Kotb gave her new accomplice permission to reveal one more thing about her mother before leaving, leading to Mila blurting out that she never wears underwear
“She’s not wearing it right now! I’ve seen how she’s changed,’ added the little girl
Mila’s final revelation eventually resulted in her mother waving her off the stage
Mila then began speaking out about how her mother cries at the end of movies, saying there was “a lot of crying” after watching Charlotte’s Web.
Unsure of what would come out of her daughter’s mouth next, the presenter hugged her and gently urged her to step off the stage.
“I love her so much but it’s time for her to go because if she’s dropped a truth bomb who knows what’s to come,” joked Bush Hager. “I think Hoda is trying to pull out the truth bombs, but no more.”
‘Is this the last one?’ asked Kotb Mila.
‘Nah!’ Mila answered.
Bush Hager and her husband Henry Hager also have a seven-year-old daughter, Poppy, and a three-year-old son, Hal (pictured together).
The family was visited last week by Bush Hager’s twin sister, Barbara Bush, and their one-year-old daughter, Cora Georgia

Kotb gave her new accomplice permission to share “just a little” tidbit about her mom before leaving. After thinking for a few seconds, Mila exclaimed, “She never wears underwear!”
Coincidentally, it was Kotb who revealed on The Morning Show last month that her co-host likes to be on command, and she couldn’t help but laugh at Mila’s confirmation.
“She’s not wearing it right now! I’ve seen how she’s changed,” the little girl added, prompting her mom to finally wave her off the set.
‘OK, goodbye! Goodbye, I love you!’ she called to her daughter as she walked away.
Bush Hager then turned to her co-host, who was still laughing.
‘I didn’t say anything more!’ she exclaimed.
