Paulo Gustavo predicted his own death, says artist’s mother

The last film with Paulo Gustavo, “Filho da Mãe”, premiered last Friday on the Amazon Prime Video platform. The actor’s mother, Déa Lúcia, who is starring alongside him in the production, said in a press conference that her son already knew he was going to die. The comedian died of complications from Covid19 in May 2021 at the age of 42.

“He talked about death all the time. It seems like he knew this was going to happen. Everything had to go very quickly, do everything quickly and that’s how he was,” she said, according to Contigo.

According to widower Thales Bretas, Paulo Gustavo expressed fear of his mother’s death, and the film’s director, Susana Garcia, a personal friend of the comedian, said that this film was a way to pay another tribute to Dona Déa.

“He was concerned about paying homage to his mother. And he said: ‘This will probably be my mother’s last great professional joy’. And indeed, it was his last professional joy,” concluded Susana.

The film shows the backstage area of ​​Paulo Gustavo’s last tour, a musical show of the same name with his mother. In addition, there are unreleased pictures of the comedian’s marriage to Thales Bretas and notes with their children Gael and Romeu.
