The transaction was reported by several media outlets, including the New York Post. In exchange, the Jays are without receivers Gabriel Moreno, a good hope for the team, and Lourdes Gurriel Jr., who are traveling to the southern United States.
Varsho, 26, began his major league career in 2020. Last season was by far his best, ending with 74 RBIs, 27 home runs and a .235 batting average.
For their part, the Torontonians are losing 22-year-old Moreno, who hit a home run in addition to seven runs in his debut season in the major leagues last year.
Gurriel Jr. spent his last five seasons with the Blue Jays. In 2022, he had a .291 batting average and produced 52 runs in 121 games.
