UN expresses concern over escalation of Israeli violence in Palestine

Spokeswoman for the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), Ravina Shamdasani, expressed concern on Friday at the escalation of violence in Palestine by Israeli forces.

“We are deeply concerned by the escalation of violence in the occupied Palestinian territories over the past month,” the United Nations official said about Israel’s April 15 attack on the Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem.

Shamdasani stressed that the Israeli crackdown had resulted in violations among worshipers at Al-Aqsa Mosque and insisted that this must be promptly, impartially, independently and transparently investigated.
