Havana, December 23 (Prensa Latina) Nowadays, the practice of casino dancing is gaining international importance, with schools and dancers in numerous countries, said Luis Llamo, president of the international project Retomando el Son.
The promoter of culture, speaking at a press conference at the Ministry of Culture in this capital, pointed out that in recent years this initiative has been taking place in Venezuela, a country on 27 the world. world, in which 1,595 dancers from 102 dance academies in 15 countries took part.
He explained that he had traveled to this South American country through the Artex company and the National Council of Cultural Houses of Cuba to prepare the Ruta del Son, thus promoting national services and products.
Llamo commented that another goal is to further consolidate the campaign of the Cuban Son as an Intangible Heritage of Humanity, so another proposal is the implementation of the Son Bailando Casino Festival by the States of Venezuela.
We visited 15 states and in the survey we conducted, we were able to identify seven specific zones where we could include 150 casino dance instruction academies, he added.
According to the cultural activist, Venezuela had the potential, organization and discipline to move the project forward, in addition to having Cuban teachers in most dance schools.
He recalled that before the Guinness record was in Europe, Greece received it for the first time in 2014; and in 2019 we went to the Spanish island of Tenerife. But it was the Cuban-Venezuelan initiative that brought it to Latin America for the first time, he emphasized.
He stressed that the Retaking the Son Bailando Casino Festival in Venezuela was supported and advised by institutions of the Cuban Ministry of Culture and Higher Education, by various musical groups of the island, as well as by the Caracas Mayor’s Office and the Bolivarian government.
It was a hard work of seven months, more than five thousand dancers asked to participate in the event, from the more than ten thousand who practiced the casino in this country he expanded.
