The TikTok video posted in mid-March has been viewed by more than 945,000 people. Kiara Brokenbrough, a resident of Los Angeles in the United States who got married in February, reveals that her dress paid for just $47, or just over €43.
Invest in your couple rather than your marriage
She told Insider Media how she organized her wedding on a limited budget of $500. Since her husband-to-be had just moved to California with her, they put money aside for their new life as a couple.
It was also an opportunity for her, who posts vlogs on YouTube, to show that a wedding doesn’t have to cost tens of thousands of euros to be successful: “I’m glad we decided to have a simple and intimate ceremony, and I am very proud to have shown that investing in your couple is more important than the wedding and the outfits. »
The dress fits her perfectly
To find the rare pearl at the affordable price of $47 (43 euros), she ordered it from Shein, a Chinese site known for its often duplicated or cheap clothing: amidst often inferior products hide some great deals, like this dress.
In the video posted on TikTok, she first shows a more classic fitting at a bridal shop, where prices are significantly higher. She wanted to do this fitting for the experience and see which style suits her before ordering the dress from Shein.
She didn’t have to adjust it to fit her size and was even happy that the dress was long enough to touch the floor as dresses are often too short for her who is 1.80m tall.
A hundred euros for the groom’s suit
For the remaining expenses, the groom’s suit cost a hundred euros, the ceremony took place outdoors in a place that did not have to be rented. “We rented 30 chairs for $76 and an arch for $230. The petals, cake and long carpet were gifts and for dinner we went to a nearby restaurant and everyone paid for their food. »
In the comments on her TikTok video, many praised her and approved of her decision to settle for a cheaper dress: “I’m glad people are realizing that paying the price of a car for a dress doesn’t make sense , which you only wear once,” wrote one internet user, for example.
