Violence shook central Paris on Saturday after a protest against Friday’s shooting of three people of Kurdish origin.

In addition to the dead, three other people were injured after a gunman opened fire on a Kurdish restaurant and community center.

The protests began Friday as clashes between police and a group who had gathered at the site following the attack.

Footage showed fires in the street and some protesters smashing car windows.

Riot police officers responded by firing tear gas as a group attempted to break through the security cordon.
