In a post on social media this Saturday (December 24), activist Luisa Mell criticized the consumption of turkey at dinner on Christmas Eve and Christmas Eve.

In the publication’s caption, Luisa reveals that 8 million turkeys in Brazil have been killed specifically for dinner, and urges that even the date that marks the birth of Jesus is celebrated by many “with animal deaths.”

In the text, she also explains how the processes work so that the animals are prepared for slaughter and then served at the table. “If all this was done with a dog, everyone would be angry,” he says.

“My request for this Christmas is that love and compassion be extended to all kinds of animals that feel, suffer, love… just like your dog,” she concludes in the text.
