If hostilities continue According to Vladimir Putin, the Ukrainians and their western allies are to blame in Ukraine. The problem remains, according to the Russian President, that Russia’s geopolitical opponents, in this case the West and Kyiv, are trying to split historical Russia, namely to destroy the historical connection between Kyiv and Moscow that has existed for centuries.

This is the point of view that the Russian President defended on television this Sunday, December 25, stressing that Russia is ready to negotiate with all participants in this process, but – and the nuance is important – that it is possible to achieve acceptance results.

Defending the interests of Russia

But Vladimir Putin was careful not to name ways or give examples that would make it possible to achieve this result. This was an opportunity for him to justify the military operation in Ukraine. The Russian President reiterated that Moscow only defends its national interests, those of its citizens and people.

After denouncing the fact that Russia’s interests were being marginalized the day after the speech by Volodymyr Zelenskyy before the US CongressVladimir Putin can hope that the West will eventually hear him.
