Showtime and Paramount Television both officially severed ties today with David Hollander, the producer behind long-running Showtime drama Ray Donovan and, more recently, showrunner on the upcoming Paramount TV-produced revival of American Gigolo. Per deadline, both sister companies ended their relationship with Hollander following an investigation into allegations of misconduct, believed to be on the American gigolo set.

Here’s the narrator’s blunt, if not particularly informative, quote about what happened, according to Paramount Television Studios: “David Hollander is no longer on the drama series American Gigolo, and Paramount Television Studios no longer has a producing relationship with him.”

Hollander has been with Showtime since 2013 and serves as executive producer on all seven seasons (and one film) of the Ray Donovan saga. His most recent project was Gigolo, which saw Jon Bernthal reprise the role of Richard Gere in Paul Schrader’s 1980 film and explore the life of Julian Kaye in a version of the Los Angeles sex worker scene set 15 years after the events of the film. According to Deadline, the series appears to have 7 episodes out of 10 through filming; One of Hollander’s lieutenants will reportedly serve as showrunner until completion. Gretchen Mol stars alongside Rosie O’Donnell, Lizzie Brocheré, Gabriel LaBelle and Leland Orser.

There’s no word yet on what behavior or complaints prompted the investigation into Hollander’s actions or his eventual dismissal. News of the investigation is now just the latest in a string of similar incidents that have surfaced in productions over the past month; Frank Langella was removed from Netflix’s The Fall Of The House Of Usher a few weeks ago over a complaint of inappropriate behavior, and filming on Aziz Ansari’s film Being Mortal was recently put on hold following an investigation into star Bill Murray’s behavior in the film had been set.
