More than 95,000 Quebecers still without power

The storm that hit Quebec has calmed down, but more than 95,000 Hydro-Quebec customers were still without power late Sunday afternoon.

According to the latest report from the state-owned company, 95,176 subscribers were still without electricity at around 5 p.m.

Since the storm began on Friday, the Capitale-Nationale has been the hardest-hit region, with 28,832 homes in the dark.

Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean and Côte-Nord are just behind with 14,310 and 13,536 customers without electricity respectively.

The Laurentians (8,246 customers), Mauricie (6,866 customers), Bas-Saint-Laurent (6,106 customers), Montérégie (5,957 customers) and the Outaouais (3,697 customers) are also facing blackouts.

Recall that since Friday, Hydro-Québec has deployed nearly 1,100 workers to try to restore power as soon as possible.

“Thanks to more than a thousand workers on site, we have restored service to more than 400,000 customers this Christmas Day, or approximately 75% of all homes without power,” Hydro-Québec wrote on Twitter.
