TV Globo today celebrated big names in entertainment and journalism with the ‘Best of the Year 2022’, shown during the Domingão do Huck programme. During an award in the humor category dubbed the Paulo Gustavo Trophy, Tata Werneck was moved by the win and decided to present the award to her friend’s mother, who died of Covid19 last year.
Déa Lúcia was called by the moderator to present the prize to the winner. When Tata Werneck received the statuette, she could not hold back her tears and decided to present the award to her friend’s mother.
“This woman always gives us strength. It’s incredible. You raised your children with much struggle and wisdom. ” She said.
In addition to paying homage to Paulo Gustavo, the award also recognized the work and life of Rita Lee. Singer Pitty and singer Jão perform the artist’s greatest hits.
João Gomes was also present on stage and his grandmother’s participation brought a moment of great fun to the audience due to her sincerity.
When asked if the singer was still obedient, she replied, “He’s stubborn now.” When asked if João Gomes was dating “a lot of girls” after the success, the singer’s grandmother categorically replied: “He says so, but I don’t see any.”
The program also celebrated leaders from across Brazil who received the Inspiration Award. The first winners were Neidinha and Txai Suruí, who received a standing ovation as they shared their story of fighting for the Amazon.
“I want to dedicate this tribute to all the indigenous peoples of this land who fought for our territories long ago, more than 500 years ago, to keep us alive and for the lives of all of us. That’s what standing forest means,” Txai said.
Chef Edson Leite was the second to receive the statuette. “Imagine, at 15, you didn’t even think you’d make it to 30, you end up here alongside this communication monster [Luciano Huck] and speak to a whole country on Christmas night when you thought you weren’t even alive. We didn’t come to complain, we came to celebrate. We came here to say we are alive,” he said at the awards ceremony.
The third winner was Nalvinha da Ilha from Recife. “I have always asked God to give me the strength to continue this journey. It’s always very difficult,” she said full of emotion. “We really need to get out there, roll up our sleeves and bring the community together. We must never give up.”
