The artist founded the electronic band in 1995: “He died peacefully in his sleep”

Faithless lead singer Maxi Jazz has died aged 65. The news was released by the British electronic group themselves, with a post on Facebook: “We are heartbroken to say that Maxi Jazz passed away last night – the formation wrote on Saturday -. He was a man who changed our lives in many ways. He gave our music the right meaning and message. He was a lovely person who made time for everyone, with a wisdom that was both profound and accessible. It was an honor and of course a real pleasure to work with him.”

Stage name Maxwell Fraser, Maxi Jazz was born in London in 1957 and had spawned Faithless in 1995 along with fellow permanent members Rollo and Sister Bliss, around whom many guest artists often revolved. Mixing dance and trip-hop, which also frequently spread political messages (with a particular focus on the issue of immigration), the group has sold millions of records and topped the charts in many countries, with hits such as “God is a DJ.” Maxi Jazz’s cause of death was not disclosed, but Sister Bliss wrote on her social media accounts that the singer “died peacefully in his sleep” at his home in south London.
