Margot Robbie’s latest film Babylon is a box office flop… two months after the last film was panned by critics

Margot Robbie’s latest film, Babylon, has failed to live up to expectations after grossing just $3.5 million domestically since its December 23 release.

The film, which also stars Brad Pitt, Tobey Maguire and Olivia Wilde, marks her second box office flop after her comedy thriller Amsterdam was panned by critics.

On Monday, TMZ reported that industry experts expect it to take home $5.3 million in what is definitely a disappointing opening weekend.

The three-hour, nine-minute film, with a budget of over $79 million, is set before the introduction of the Hays Code in 1930, which bans profanity, nudity, drug use, sexual “perversion,” and interracial relationships, and much more onscreen.

The film features an eclectic cast that includes Jean Smart, Li Jun Li, Jovan Adepo and Diego Calva.

According to Paramount Pictures, it is “a tale of over-the-top ambition and outrageous excess, tracing the rise and fall of multiple characters in an era of unbridled decadence and depravity in early Hollywood.”

Critics heaped on the David O. Russell-directed film — his first since Joy in 2015 — and the majority agreed it’s an overcooked mess that even its all-star cast can’t save.

With a meager 33 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, Amsterdam – which stars Christian Bale and John David Washington – Robbie plays ex-WWI battalion nurse Valerie Voze, who helps Bale and Washington investigate a murder.

The film was projected to lose at least $100 million at the box office after suffering a disastrous US opening weekend, which saw studio New Regency and distributor Disney earn just $6.5 million.
