The annual Best of the Year awards ceremony is usually a “corporate party” essentially intended to celebrate Globo’s own achievements. This year was different. The tone of “Domingão do Huck” was a farewell party from the Bolsonaro government.
Prepared by Paulo Vieira, Fábio Porchat and Tatá Werneck, moderator Luciano Huck gave way to a series of jokes about the dying government. Paulo Vieira was the one who was the happiest: “If I don’t win today, I won’t accept defeat. I’ll ask for a printed vote. I’ll set Globo’s cart on fire. I’ll go to the door.” barracks to demand Faustão’s return”.
But the tone of the demonstrations was generally more serious. Osmar Prado, who won the Supporting Actor category for his role as Velho do Rio in the telenovela Pantanal, gave a long speech. And said:
“I want to share [o prêmio] with the reaction of the people on the street. With the soap opera, we managed to bring a little joy to our people who have been very mistreated and disrespected for the past four years. That we can rebuild everything on January 1,” said Osmar.
The “Best of the Year” also honored personalities who lead initiatives of a social nature. One of them was Edson Leite, creator of the program Gastronomia Periférica in São Paulo, who moved the audience by saying: “We came here to celebrate. We came here to say we’re alive, you know? More books, fewer guns !”
William Bonner, who was distinguished as a journalist, also celebrated the end of the Bolsonaro government: “Renata (Lo Prete), Cesar (Tralli) and I represent a whole category, not just our colleagues at Globo, who have made enormous efforts in recent years to light to bring to the people, to bring information. And it’s very pleasant to be here now and to see how Lulu Santos said in partnership with Nelson Motta: everything passes, everything always will pass.”
Filmmaker Andrucha Waddington, director of the awardwinning series Under Pressure, said: “I would like to dedicate this award to all those working in the arts. I think that from January we will have an active sector.”
Luciano Huck also dealt with this topic with even more enthusiasm: “Now that we finally have the Ministry of Culture again. And we have the Minister of Education back. Paulo Vieira added: “Viva Margareth Menezes”.
Huck ended the show on a forgiving note: “Merry Christmas to you at home. May it be a year of health, peace and love country that we heal the open wounds. We are one people, united from end to end, who must wear the same shirt”.
