KGF Chapter 2 has re-entered Monster Mode for its second weekend. After a steady Rs 11.50 crore on Friday, the film showed a 65 per cent surge on Saturday as early estimates pointed to revenue in the region of Rs 18.00 crore. The 10 day gross of this Yash fronted gangster drama is Rs 292.85 crore and the film is fast heading towards the prestigious club of Rs 300 crore.
The Prashanth Neel Directorial will surpass the 300 million mark on Sunday, completing its 11-day run at the box office in the region of Rs 3.13 million. The film has already been the highest grossing film in the Hindi belts since the pandemic began and is fast on its way to challenge the lifetime collections of Dangal (Rs 375 crore) to become the second highest grossing film of all time in the Hindi belts. Markets to become Bahubali 2 (Rs 511 crore). It would be difficult for Hindi releases to challenge the collections of KGF 2 this year.
The gangster drama had slowed somewhat over the weekdays, leading to talk of the likelihood of it underperforming Dangal, but the second weekend trend has kept it in the running to whiz past the benchmark. The film will easily hit the Rs 20 billion mark on Sunday and aims to rake in a plus of Rs 3.30 billion by the end of the second week. Week three of KGF 2 is also expected to be healthy despite the competition as a large segment of the audience base in the masses who have been unable to see a feature film on the big screen due to Ramzan will venture into cinemas for this larger than life drama.
KGF 2’s business will see a major boost during the extended Eid holiday, particularly in the mass belts, proving itself a worthy competitor to Heropanti 2 on the occupancy front. With the film, Yash made his debut in the 300 crore club, teaming up with the likes of Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan and Ranbir Kapoor to name a few. Yash has now established himself as a familiar face among Hindi-speaking audiences and his next step will be crucial in paving the way for the Pan India journey.
A few right decisions going forward and he would be one of the biggest crowd pullers. It’s the decisions in the post-KGF world that will carve his path to stardom across the nation.
