Rian Johnson recently responded to a theory that Edward Norton’s Glass Onion character is based on Elon Musk.
The 49-year-old director discussed the similarities during an interview with Wired published late last week.

Glass Onion follows a tech billionaire, played by Edward Norton, who invites a group of friends to a private island near Greece.
When someone is found dead, Daniel Craig’s Detective Benoit Blanc takes over the case.
When Glass Onion came out just a few months after Musk acquired Twitter, Johnson remarked on how strange the similarities between the film and real life were.
‘It’s so strange. It’s very bizarre,’ he said. “I hope there isn’t some secret marketing department at Netflix funding this Twitter acquisition.”

Something like that: When Glass Onion came out just a few months after Musk acquired Twitter, Johnson remarked on how strange the similarities between the film and real life were (pictured May 2022).
He continued, “There’s a lot of general things about these types of tech billionaires that went straight in. But obviously it has an almost odd relevance in the present moment. A friend of mine said, ‘Gosh, that feels like it was written this afternoon.’ And that’s just some kind of horrible, horrible accident, you know?’
Johnson also spoke of placing the film in the context of the pandemic. He explained: “You build a little microcosm of society with the suspects and the power structure within the suspects.
“That’s what we’ve all been through, and we now have all these scrambled characters to get insights into these characters, like their mask choices.”
Drawing the comparisons between the Bron character and Musk, one user wrote on Twitter: “Bloody h*ll. Now that I think about it, Edward Norton’s character is so reminiscent of Elon Musk’s, who was also covered by NME

Millions: Craig earned $50 million for his role in Glass Onion and will make another $50 million for the next movie
Another user tweeted, “Damn, really brave of Netflix and Glass Onion to directly call Elon Musk a complete jerk and still have a Twitter account.”
Someone else seemed to sum up a bunch of comments by writing: “Is Glass Onion a thinly veiled jab at Elon Musk? [sic]’
Comparisons between Edward Norton’s character and Elon Musk came after Craig’s salaries for Glass Onion and Knives Out were revealed.
He made $50 million for his role in Glass Onion and will make another $50 million for the next movie.
Rather than making money off backend deals like many box office stars do, Netflix builds those bonuses into the starting salary that makes up the huge payday.
