A Tennessee mother has been arrested after she stole three cars and used her five-year-old as a shield while firing a gun at a car theft victim.

Bethany Wilson, 24, was wanted by police after she attacked several people with a car, starting with a 51-year-old woman, at a convenience store in Clarksville, Tennessee, around 4:40 p.m. Thursday on Thursday.

Wilson approached a woman who was pumping gas into her Nissan Juke at gunpoint before fleeing to a nearby location and ambushing another victim at 5:16 p.m.

The second victim told police Wilson stole his black Mercedes Benz at gunpoint and used a child as a shield while he shot him.

Police were on the hunt for Wilson until about 11 p.m. when they received a tip that she was at the local Days Inn off Exit 11 after she stole a Ford F-150 that was involved in an accident.

The cars that Wilson stole were recovered by police when they left them looking for other victims.

Police later learned that Wilson most recently stole a Ford, which she later overturned on I-24 near mile marker 16.

She fled the scene and then checked into an inn. It is unclear whether anyone was injured in the crash.

Police arrested Wilson at the inn and brought her child back safely. She charged them with carjacking and aggravated robbery.

It’s unclear why Wilson went on the carjacking spree.

Wilson is being held in the Montgomery County Jail on a $20,000 bond.
