(ANSA) — ROME, APRIL 24 — Moscow says Ukraine’s special services are planning a provocative operation using chemicals at the Yuzhny port in Odessa to blame and accuse Russian forces of attacking civilians to have. A statement that Kyiv instead interprets as a threat disguised as a warning: Russian forces would therefore be the ones planning to launch a chemical weapons attack on the Ukrainian port, according to the Kyiv Independent.
“Near the port of Yuzhny – says the head of the Russian National Defense Control Center Mikhail Mizintsev, quoted by the TASS agency – the Ukrainian special services are planning a provocation with the use of toxic chemicals to accuse Russian troops of alleged attacks on civilian infrastructure. The most likely scenario This staging would mimic a missile attack by Russian forces on Ukraine’s western military naval base, which would result in the explosion of a cold storage complex in the port located within 500 meters of the military target.”
Mizintsev adds that to implement this plan, on April 18, a tank with ammonia was delivered from Odessa to the facility in question, while members of the police and special services of the Odessa region distributed personal protective equipment. (HAND).
