With 56 million Green Tickets collected for the Christmas weekend, James Cameron’s film reached 253 million in North America. Internationally, La Voie de l’eau has already raised $855 million. The billion will soon be exceeded!
In second place, Puss in Boots 2 extends its claws, but cannot do anything against the Na’vis. The animated film, which grossed $11.3 million, is ahead of the Whitney Houston biopic, I Wanna Dance With Somebody. Work begins at 5.3 million greenbacks.
Babylon, the new film from Damien Chazelle (La La Land), falls at the foot of the podium, starting with a timid score: $3.5 million. In 5th place, Violent Night’s cheeky Santa Claus David Harbor is doing well, collecting 41 million greenbacks.
Black Panther 2 also remains in the top 10 with 3 million in earnings this weekend. He now has $425 million in his pocket. Carried by an intense Brendan Fraser, The Whale is doing pretty well and has already raised more than $2 million.
It has the luxury of selling Spielberg’s new work, The Fabelmans, for just another $550,000. In last place, the Disney animated film Avalonia raked in 410,000 greenbacks and amassed more than 35 million.
