Aerial images show a large number of cars, vans and trucks upside down on a stretch of freeway in the middle of the country. Traffic seems cut off. Images have immortalized cars finishing their race on top of the vehicles in front.

At least 200 vehicles involved
According to estimates by official media, at least 200 vehicles were involved in this rare pile-up. According to local authorities, quoted by public broadcaster CCTV, poor visibility due to fog is the cause of this accident, which happened near Zhengzhou on Wednesday morning. Traffic on the affected section of the highway resumed in the afternoon, Zhengzhou police said on their official account.
