British designer Vivienne Westwood dies aged 81 (photo taken December 2021)
DEATH – The fashion world mourns. The famous British designer Vivienne Westwood died in London this Thursday, December 29th. In a statement on Twitter, her fashion house said she died “peaceful and surrounded” by her family in Clapham, south of the British capital.
“The world needs people like Vivienne to change for the better,” House Vivienne Westwood wrote on Twitter. Her husband and creative partner Andreas Kronthaler told the BBC: “I will carry on Vivienne in my heart. “We worked until the end and she gave me a lot”

Associated with the English punk era for her nonconformist and eccentric creations, Vivienne Westwood is nicknamed “fashion’s terrible child”. An image she will keep for the rest of her life.
Vivienne Westwood rose to prominence on the fashion scene in the 1970s with her androgynous designs, slogan T-shirts and irreverent attitude towards the fashion establishment. Known as a committed activist, she brought issues close to her heart, such as climate change, to the fore.
The designer was made a lady for services to fashion in 2006.
