Drug investigators at the port of Hamburg have struck a blow against cocaine smuggling. They confiscated nearly 3.6 tonnes of the drug in containers from Brazil and Ecuador, according to Hamburg customs on Thursday. The authority estimated the sale value of the seized drug at at least €100 million. Successes were also achieved with the help of X-ray inspection by the container inspection system, the customs explained.
“Anomalies” were found during the inspection, which turned out to be cocaine hidden on closer inspection of the cargo, according to a statement. Some was hidden in large bags of metal granules, some in a shipment of tuna cans.
