A Florida couple has found their long-lost diamond engagement ring in a restroom 21 years after it disappeared.
Shaina Day, 43, of Lakeland, was reunited with the ring after her mother-in-law Renee replaced her toilet. The plumber found the jewelry in the china bowl last month, WFLA-TV in Tampa reported.
Her husband, Nick Day, proposed with the ring over two decades ago, but luckily for her, the token of his love disappeared just before their wedding.
“She came up to me one day and said, ‘I think I lost my ring,'” Nick told the broadcaster. “She said, ‘It was on the counter. Now it’s gone, and I think I accidentally got it.’ flushed down the toilet.”

They went to great lengths to find the diamond, even searching the house’s septic tank in hopes of uncovering it.
“I climbed down into the septic tank so we could pump it all through a sieve to try and find it,” Shaina recalled. ‘No luck.’
The couple replaced the engagement ring, but they always wondered what happened to it.
You might never have found the sentimental gem if Nick’s mom didn’t want to upgrade her toilet during her bathroom remodel.
Shaina feared she had flushed the ring down the toilet two decades ago, and she even went so far as to search the house’s septic symptom, only to find it to no avail

After a thorough cleaning, Nick’s parents surprised her on Christmas Eve with the gift-wrapped ring. Nick said they both “knew exactly what it was” when they opened it.
