The South Korean news agency Yonhap reported on Wednesday. His recovery is progressing according to the established schedules.
Ryu was injured in the spring and left a game against the Chicago White Sox early June 1st. He saw no more action for the remainder of the season. The shooter had had time to start six games while maintaining a 2-0 record and a 5.67 earned running average.
Ryu arrived in Toronto on a four-year, $80 million contract after earning a major league baseball-best average (2.32) with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2019. He was a finalist for the Cy-Young Trophy at the end of that season, as was the following year in the Jays’ uniform.
The 35-year-old athlete will compete in his 10th major league season in 2023.
