Damascus, Dec 30 (Prensa Latina) At least 10 workers at the al-Taim oil field in eastern Syria’s Deir Ezzor province were killed today as a result of terrorist attacks, the Arab nation’s Ministry of Oil and Minerals reported.
In a statement, the company clarified that three buses heading to the site were attacked, causing the instant deaths of 10 workers while six others were injured.
The ministry did not provide details on the party responsible for this action, but analysts and local media attributed it to the Islamic State terrorist organization, Daesh in Arabic, whose remnant groups frequently target civilian communities, military positions and infrastructure in the vast desert region of Al -Badieh in the east of the country.
The attack comes amid an acute energy crisis in the country due to the blockade by the United States and its western allies, showing that this action is being funded and organized from abroad to further exacerbate hydrocarbon shortages, the sources said.
Similar attacks have occurred in the eastern provinces of Hama, Raqa and Deir Ezzor over the past two years, claiming the lives of dozens of civilians and soldiers.
According to earlier allegations from Damascus, US forces illegally in the al-Tanef area in the east are providing logistical support, protection and intelligence for Daesh terrorists to target the Syrian army and its allies and civilians.
In turn, field officials revealed that Daesh cells are particularly active in the southern and eastern areas of Deir Ezzor and Homs provinces, since these areas are geographically connected to al-Tanef, where extremists are sheltering after their attacks.
Daesh has resorted to gang warfare and attacks based on clear intelligence directives to wear down Syrian forces and their allies since its defeat in 2018.
