Steven Tyler sued for sexual assault by woman who says she was 16 at the time

A woman who says she had a sexual relationship with Steven Tyler in 1973 at the age of 16 has filed a lawsuit against the Aerosmith frontman, Rolling Stone reports. The lawsuit, filed under the California Child Victims Act, charges Tyler with sexual assault, sexual violence and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Under the law, the statute of limitations for child abuse survivors has been temporarily lifted.

Tyler is not named in the lawsuit, but plaintiff Julia Holcomb has spoken publicly about her experience with Tyler, which was around 25 at the time and lasted three years. For his part, Tyler writes in his memoir that he “almost took a teenage bride” whose parents “fell in love with me, signed an application for custody of me so I wouldn’t be arrested for taking her out of state.” I took her on tour.”

Holcomb claims Tyler provided her with drugs and alcohol, had sex with her and, yes, took her on tour. At 17 she became pregnant with his child and the singer persuaded her to have an abortion.

Interestingly, Holcomb’s lawsuit relates to John Doe’s numbers 1 through 50, so there may be more shoes to drop as the lawsuit progresses.

Aerosmith canceled eight shows of its Las Vegas residency in May because Tyler had to return to rehab. Earlier this month, the band canceled the last two dates of the residency due to an undisclosed illness that Tyler was suffering from.
