On December 30th YG entertainment announced the departure of the boy band iKON from the label after 7 years.
The agency stated that day,
“Hello, this is YG Entertainment.
We would like to announce that after a long and careful discussion with iKON (Kim Jin Hwan, Bobby, Song Yun Hyeong, Koo Jun Hoe, Donghyuk and Chanwoo) we have all mutually agreed to sign the group’s exclusive deal in relation to one end someone else’s opinions.
We would like to sincerely thank iKON for joining us as a YG artist. YG Entertainment will always look forward to members’ activities in various fields and wish them the best for the future.
Also, we would like to deeply thank all iKONIC for accompanying iKON on their journey. Please continue to send your warm attention and support to the iKON members as they are about to begin a new phase in their journey.

Meanwhile, iKON debuted in September 2015 with a pre-single “My typ“. According to media reports on the day, the members of iKON are currently considering various options for their future promotions, including finding new agencies for their individual promotions as well as finding opportunities to start their own label for group promotions.
