Quebec: A slippery and wet weekend at the end of the year

The New Year’s weekend promises to be slippery and wet in several regions of Quebec where freezing rain is expected on Friday.

A freezing rain warning is currently in place for Minganie, Parc national de la Gaspésie – Murdochville, the Manicouagan River and Sept-Îles – Port-Cartier.
Between 1 and 3 millimeters of ice are expected in these regions from Friday evening through Saturday morning.
“Surfaces such as roads, streets, sidewalks and parking lots could become icy and slippery. Use caution when walking or driving in affected areas,” Environment Canada warned on its website.
Icy drizzle is also expected in Saguenay on Friday morning.
Rain and clouds dominate the skies in Greater Montreal and western Quebec from Friday through Sunday, with temperatures mostly above freezing.
In central Quebec, the New Year’s Eve countdown falls in the rain, while between 5 and 10mm of rain is expected in the Capitale-Nationale on Saturday.
