North Korea today launched a short-range ballistic missile into the East Sea, also known as the Sea of Japan. This was announced by the South Korean military. It was the second consecutive test in two days, and the missile was fired from the Yongseong area of the capital Pyongyang, the Seoul General Staff added. Military tensions on the Korean Peninsula have risen sharply in 2022 as the North has conducted weapons tests nearly every month, including the launch of its most advanced ICBM ever.
Yesterday, Pyongyang fired three more short-range ballistic missiles after South Korea tested a solid-fuel launch vehicle. In the previous days, five North Korean drones had raided southern airspace – an event unprecedented in five years and for which Seoul’s defense minister had to apologize. In fact, the army had not been able to shoot down a single one of these drones, even though they had sent jets. (ANSA-AFP).
