Tesla Analyst Narrows Final Guidance for Fourth Quarter Deliveries – TESLARATI

Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) is set to report fourth-quarter and full-year 2022 delivery numbers later today, and analyst Dan Ives believes the company is on the verge of releasing its strongest final-quarter numbers in company history.

Wedbush analyst Dan Ives said he believes Tesla will report between 415,000 and 420,000 deliveries for the fourth quarter of 2022, bringing the company’s total to over 1.3 million units for the year. 420,000 units would be “solid” by Ives’ estimate, especially as the company has battled rumors of production restrictions in China, as well as broader macro-level concerns that could be related to the lingering impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, supply chain has stalled over the past three years.

Tesla pushed into the fourth quarter with relatively little doubt that it would achieve its first year of one million units. After eclipsing 900,000 deliveries by the end of the third quarter, Tesla’s reputation for ramping it up in the fourth quarter took over and the company didn’t disappoint. After Tesla offered a $3,750 rebate on Model 3 and Model Y units in early December, Tesla upped that incentive to $7,500 while also offering 10,000 free Supercharging miles.

The incentive to push Tesla’s mass-market vehicles out the door and into the hands of consumers was followed by late-night rewards for purchasing the Model S and Model X. Tesla began offering a $7,500 rebate and 10,000 Superchargings in the closing days of 2022. to offer miles for these vehicles.

Inventories were falling and customers were taking advantage of Tesla’s offerings, which should bode well for the company’s fourth-quarter and full-year delivery numbers. However, attention is already turning to what Tesla could achieve in 2023. As Ives said, Wedbush estimates 1.8 million units for Tesla this year, which would be up about 500,000 vehicles from 2022 if his estimates for last year are correct.

Tesla could release delivery numbers today, but with the market closed and the stock taking a hit, the automaker could wait to push the stats when trading resumes tomorrow. However, that is speculative.

Tesla has a full record in 2023 as it plans to launch Cybertruck production and could announce a new manufacturing facility within the first month of the new year.
