Actor Jeremy Renner is hospitalized in critical condition after being injured in a weather-related snow removal incident in Nevada, his publicist confirmed to CNN.
“We can now confirm that Jeremy is in critical but stable condition and has sustained injuries after being involved in a weather-related accident while snow plowing earlier this morning,” Sam Mast told CNN in a statement. “His family is with him and he is being well taken care of.”
Officials were responding to a “traumatic injury” in the area of Reno’s Mount Rose Highway, according to a press release from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office that previously said the Oscar-nominated actor lived in the community.
The sheriff’s office did not provide details on the extent of Renner’s injuries or what caused the accident.
The deputies coordinated with the Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District and REMSA Health to arrange for Renner’s medical transport via care flight to a local hospital, the press release said.
Renner, who stars in the Paramount+ series Mayor of Kingstown and has appeared in several films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including playing Hawkeye, was the only person involved in the accident, officials said.
The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating the circumstances.
Renner has posted multiple videos and photos on his verified social media accounts showing him in snowy conditions.
A photo posted to his Instagram account from a year ago shows a stand of trees in an area of significant snowfall.
“How would you feel if your driveway looked like this?” reads his caption. “I’m so lucky that Mother Nature rules my day!”
In a video posted two weeks ago and featured in his vacation highlights on Instagram, Renner appears to be driving a snowplow with the caption, “Break new trails, vacation adventures.”
Another from a week ago shows snow being plowed with the caption “Almost done with the sledding hill for the kids.”
