A horrific “industrial accident” in Charlotte, North Carolina has killed three and injured two others.

Charlotte Fire Department officials said the “work accident” happened around 9 a.m. Monday at a construction site on the 700 block of E. Morehead Street.

Sources at the scene said three construction workers were killed when the scaffolding they were on collapsed and they fell 70 feet to the ground, with a wall falling on them.

Two other victims were subsequently taken to a local hospital. Paramedics say they suffered no serious injuries.

The accident is now being investigated by the Federal Office for Occupational Safety and Health.

Construction workers who stayed at the scene said they were doing

Construction workers who stayed at the scene said they were doing “the best we can be”.

Dozens of first responders, as well as vehicles from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, were pictured at the scene as the fire department said they were working to secure the area.

All work at the site has been suspended while the incident is investigated, and builders who stayed on site told WSOC TV they were “doing the best they can”.

A family reunification center has been set up nearby.
