After weeks of waiting for his invite to this year’s Masters, PGA golfer Scott Stallings received a welcome message on Twitter this week from none other than Scott Stallings.

Due to some understandable confusion, the professional golfer’s invitation was delivered to an amateur golfer of the same name.

“Hi Scott,” read a direct message sent to the PGA Tour member. “My name is also Scott Stallings and I’m from Georgia. My wife’s name is Jennifer too!!

“Today I received a FedEx from the Masters inviting me to play in the Master’s (sic) tournament April 6-9, 2023. This is me [100 percent] it’s definitely not for me. I play but wow! Nowhere (sic) near your level.’

As it turns out, the Masters invitation was delivered to amateur Scott Stallings’ condo, but he found out pretty quickly it wasn’t intended for him.

‘I’m playing, but wow!’ read the direct message. “Not nearly your level. It is a very nice package with everything you need to participate. I think we have some confusion about our names, our wife’s names, and geographic location. I can be reached at [redacted] and I am very pleased to send you this package.’

The “other” Scott Stallings ended his message with, “I’m really not kidding, I promise.”

The story was confirmed by Stalling’s agent on GolfChannel.com, not to mention Stalling’s own Twitter account.

“I was literally checking my mailbox five times a day and then yesterday I got this random DM,” Stallings, the tour pro, tweeted Monday.

Stallings is a three-time Tour Champion and finished first at the 2011 Greenbrier Classic, the 2012 True South Classic and the 2014 Farmers Insurance Open. He placed 27th at the Augusta National.

Like many pros, Stallings was joined by his family during Augusta’s par 3 tournament, which is a light-hearted pre-Masters event. Stallings’ young children, Finn and Millie, were spotted dressed as caddies in 2014, much to the delight of an enthusiastic crowd.
