Her sister Natasha died on March 18, 2009 at the age of 45 in NYC from an epidural hematoma following a skiing accident in Quebec, Canada.
And over the festive season, Joely Richardson, 57, shared a stunning picture of her late sister with her widower Liam Neeson, 70, after her phone offered it as a keepsake.
The Patriot actress took to Instagram, where she posted the beautiful black and white photo and revealed how it made her “smile big” when she first stumbled upon it three years ago.

Alongside the snap, Joely wrote: “A few years ago I was staying at a hotel in Dublin and really missed my sister Natasha.
“As I was walking through the lobby on a screen, this image appeared as ‘past guests’ – I was smiling broadly. My phone just sent it to me as a reminder. Tash in all her glory.”
Eight months after Natasha’s shock death, Joely told Tatler, “I hadn’t gone a day in my life without her. You worry about your children and your elders, but I never imagined anything like that. Tash was given to me.
“The shock crushes you at a cellular level, and it takes time for the pieces to come together again, albeit in a different formation.”

Natasha died at the age of 45 from an epidural hematoma (bleeding around the brain) two days after hitting her head during a beginner’s ski lesson in Quebec, Canada, in 2009.
Speaking to CBS’ Anderson Cooper about the loss of his wife in 2014, Liam Neeson recalled arriving at the hospital and being told by doctors that she was brain dead from her accident.
He said: “She was on life support … I went to her and told her I love her. I said, “Honey, you’re not coming back, you hit your head.”
“She and I had made a pact that if either of us went into a vegetative state, we would pull the plug. That was my immediate thought: “Okay, these hoses have to go. She is gone.”
Liam and Maid In Manhattan star Natasha married in 1994 and shared two sons, actor Micheál, 27, and fashion designer Daniel, 26.

Liam has rarely spoken out about his love life since losing his wife, but ended a two-year relationship with British publicist Freya St Johnston in 2012.
A source told Web at the time: “He told her he wanted to spend more time in New York and really want to spend more time with his kids.
“Freya wants something more serious, but Liam thinks it’s too soon. His wife just died three years ago, he wants to take it slow.’
