Speculations about Drake’s arrest began circulating on social media in July 2022, with the hashtag #FreeDrake trending on Twitter. At the time, representatives for the rapper denied he was arrested, saying he was only at his hotel and not at a police station.

Huffington Post journalist Phillip Lewis took to Twitter and said the speculation was false.

“FYI: I have spoken to the Swedish Police and they told me Drake is not currently in their care. (That was the only information they would give),” he wrote.

Lewis also confirmed: “From Drake’s team: “Drake is at his hotel and has not been arrested.”

However, Drake later hinted that the arrest did indeed take place when he shared a photo of a document from the Swedish National Police Agency on Instagram.

In his most recent post, Drake seemingly confirmed the incident once and for all. Alongside video of his arrest, he shared a photo of himself and associate 21 Savage and a caption that reads:

“The resources are useful/The lyrics are truthful/The suspects are common/The opps are delusional/The finish line is beautiful/And the disrespect is mutual/See you in 23.”

It’s still unclear what specific charges Drake faces regarding the arrest.

However, reports suggest the arrest may have been linked to marijuana-related offenses as Drake partied at a club in Stockholm.
