Florida flight delays fixed due to air traffic control issues, says FAA

Rep. Nancy Mace discusses the Southwest Airlines meltdown and how Pete Buttigieg responded to the matter on Maria Bartiromo’s Wall Street.

An air traffic issue that prompted the Federal Aviation Administration to slow all air traffic in Florida airspace Monday, amid one of the busiest travel days of the year, was resolved hours later, officials said.

On Monday night, the FAA told Fox News Digital that the computer problem had been resolved and that it was “working on the safe return to a normal traffic rate in Florida airspace.”

Earlier, the agency said the issue would be “resolved” amid hours of flight delays for travelers. En Route Automation Modernization (ERAM) handles route traffic at air traffic centers, the FAA said.

During the delay, American Airlines said the ground stop “affects all airlines in and out of the area due to an issue at the MIA ATC (Miami Air Route Traffic Control Center) control center.”

Fox News Digital has reached out to Miami International Airport.

Tampa International Airport said some flights to the airport could be affected by the delay. In a tweet, it said the vast majority of its flights don’t use Miami airspace “as most of our routes depart north/northeast/northwest.”

The delay comes after a turbulent few weeks for airlines, which saw thousands of flights delayed or canceled amid a frigid winter storm in what is being described as a holiday travel fiasco.
